Regulations EC261 / UK261
SAS a Scandinavian airline based in Stockholm, Sweden. And as a such it has to follow European regulations. There are two regulations that apply to most SAS flights – EC261, also known as the EU flight compensation regulation, and the Regulation UK261. Every time SAS flight is 3+ hours late, cancelled or overbooked, you may be entitled to European flight compensation. Don’t forget to file a claim!

If a SAS flight reaches destination 3 or more hours late, and the delay is due to their fault, not something unavoidable, you may be entitled to EU flight delay compensation up to 600 euro. For example, last-minute technical problems are considered airline’s fault (you can get compensation if that causes a delay).

If SAS cancels a flight less than 14 days before the departure, you have a right to a new flight to your destination or refund. The airline has to give you a choice between the two. The same applies to all flights departing from and arriving to Europe (EU, EEA, UK). You may also have a right to SAS flight cancellation compensation.
